The Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry of California is a grassroots organization committed to enabling UUs to participate in justice education, advocacy and witness; developing justice leaders; strengthening the justice ministries of congregations; and acting as a visible and credible partner in advancing justice.

This means our volunteer-led and -directed Action Teams have a lot of important (and rewarding) work to do. Action Teams keep congregations up-to-date on current national, state and local legislation relative to their issues, provide opportunities through petitions, call-in campaigns, letter writing and witness events for UUs and congregations to stand with impacted communities and develop training materials for use at the congregational level as well as in UUJM’s Regional Justice Trainings and annual statewide Walking the Walk Summit.

A number of action teams have also sponsored regional summits around their issue, inviting community-based organizations together with UUs and interfaith partners for days of sharing, collaborating and relationship-building! The possibilities are endless — but entirely dependent upon UUs heeding the call to action.

We currently have active teams in Immigrant Justice and Economic Justice. The Environmental Justice Action Team is having an organizing call on Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00pm for those interested in working on climate and/or water justice. Click here for more information!
