Immigrant Day 2016 was a success!

March 17, 2016 by evan junker Leave a Comment

Thanks to everyone who joined with hundreds of immigrants and advocates from across California for Immigrant Day 2016!WP_20160523_09_02_51_Pro It was a successful day of advocacy, education and unity, where we raised a unified voice in Sacramento in support of state proposals that advanced immigrant integration and prosperity for all Californians.

Community leaders participated in over 100 legislative visits with their respective elected representatives. During the day, one of the policy priorities, the TRUTH Act (AB 2792), was voted on the Assembly floor and passed!

We’re also excited to report continued success on other priorities. The One California budget proposal has been presented to the Governor with a $30 million investment for 2016-17. The Governor has until the end of June to approve the investment. Finally, SB 10 (Lara) Providing Access to All Californians to Covered California, another of the policy priority, was signed by Governor Brown just last week!
