Day 16. Emma González: Leading the Fight for Gun Control After the Parkland Shooting.

At just 18 years old, Emma González emerged as a powerful voice in the fight for gun control following the tragic mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Her passionate advocacy and unwavering commitment to ending gun violence have made her an influential leader in the movement for safer communities. In our “30 Days of Celebrating Youth: Explorers & Innovators” series, we honor Emma González for her courage, her activism, and her determination to bring about change.

A Tragic Catalyst for Change
On February 14, 2018, a devastating school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School claimed the lives of 17 students and staff members. Emma González, a senior at the school, was among the survivors of the shooting.
