ELECTION DEFENDER TRAINING: Election Defenders will be working to provide safe supports for voting (such as PPE and water), and election and voter defense, de-escalating white supremacist intimidation tactics and signaling to a network of groups and lawyers if and where trouble breaks out. DE-ESCALATION TRAINING (Online): Join the Silicon Valley Faith Leaders Collaborative for a “Nonviolent De-escalation Training for November 4 and Beyond” for faith leaders (lay, ordained, and more) from 6:00-8:00 PM Pacific. Help ensure a fair election process, safety for all, the counting of every vote, and a peaceful transition, no matter what the results by building teams of faith and religious leaders trained to maintain a nonviolent space for rallies and vigils following the election. HALLOWEEN PHONEBANK PARTY: Join youth from all over California on October 29th, 4:00-7:00pm PT for our Halloween Phonebank Party! Help us win over $12 billion for our schools and communities by reaching out to voters for Proposition 15! Wear your Halloween costume and enter our costume contest to WIN $100 prize for youth AND adults! READY & RESILIENT with UU the Vote: Join Rev. Ashley Horan for a facilitated group discussion and action planning session at 9am PT/ 12pm ET around the needs to defend the election. With early voting and absentee ballot returns underway, we’re already seeing intentionally weak infrastructure to support the volume of people casting their ballots. This year we must be prepared for all scenarios, find our lane, and take faithful action to defend our elections, support voters, and to act in unity and solidarity to demand that every vote is counted. EVERY VOTE IS SACRED (Orange County): On Friday, October 30th at 12pm PT – the first day of early voting in Orange County – CLUE’s interfaith coalition will meet at the Honda Center to offer prayers and blessings upon all who are voting at Orange County’s largest Vote Center. Clergy and lay leaders from local houses of worship will also conduct a nonviolence training, to prepare community leaders to peacefully defend democracy after the November 3rd general election. PHONEBANK PARTY WITH UUJMCA: Join UUJMCA as we partner with “Reclaim Our Vote” for the final “From Worship to Work” Sunday Phonebank to voters in states with a history of voter suppression. SPIRITUAL GROUNDING FOR ELECTION DAY: From 10am – 10pm ET (7am-7pm PT), UU Ministers will be gathering from around the country to offer a space for respite, positive energy, peace, and spiritual practice on Election Day. You are invited join at any time during that day to find a peaceful space for reflection, prayer, meditation and spiritual practice. Different UU ministers will be leading every 15 minutes. PRAYER VIGIL & RALLY (San Jose): Join the Silicon Valley Faith Leaders Collaborative at 5pm PT at San Jose City Hall. This event is sponsored by over two dozen local community organizations, and will provide a worshipful space to land for those in the San Jose/Silicon Valley region who want to make sure every vote is counted!
NON-VIOLENCE TRAINING (Orange County, Online): Join CLUE Justice (Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice) for a “Post-Election Day Online Convocation & Nonviolence Training” with faith leaders/community members and organizers in Orange County. Register here to join this online event on November 4 at 2pm Pacific.
PROTECT THE RESULTS: Protect the Results is a coalition of over 100 bipartisan grassroots organizations ready to protect the valid results of the 2020 election. Should the Trump administration unconstitutionally declare victory before all the votes are counted, make unfounded claims that the election was “stolen,” or further act to intimidate or prevent the legitimate counting of votes, Protect the Results will activate nationwide mobilizations to demand that all the votes are counted and for the peaceful transition of power. IN-PERSON VIGIL (Orange County): Join CLUE Justice for an interfaith vigil to faithfully demand that every vote is counted & honored. 12pm PT, with location TBD, but share your interest to be updated on specifics as events unfold. (Online participation also available)
POST-ELECTION VIGIL with UU the Vote: Save the date for this national time with faithful UU community & organizers at 5pm Pacific. No matter the results of the election this year, we know we will want to gather in community. Please save the date and join the UUA, UU the Vote, Side with Love, and UUA President Rev.
