President Biden signed a proclamation recognizing the “dignity, respect, and support” for the LGBTQI+ community on May 31, 2022. This presidential action proclaims June 2022 as LGBTQI+ Pride Month. The first time the federal government proclaimed June as Pride Month was in 1999, signed by President Clinton, and labeled “Gay & Lesbian Pride Month.” President Obama declared June as “LGBT Pride Month” in 2009.
